Captain

Chris Howlin is a native of Virginia Beach and has fished his local waters since he was a kid. Captain Howlin holds a 50 ton USCG Masters captains license USCG OUPV (operator of uninspected passenger vessels) ( six pack) captains license, and is trained and certifed in both CPR and First Aid. Aside from safety, catching fish is the only thing on his mind. He has been blessed with the opportunity to fish from Maryland to Cape Hatteras, Florida, Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Aruba, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas.
So he has a little bit of seasoning from all over.

The Boat

The "Good Grief" is a 36' custom Bruiel Sportfisherman powerted by new Twin Caterpillar 3208 Turbos. Recently she was totally re-fitted with all new wiring, fittings and running gear. She cruises at 25 knots and tops out at 31 knots. The boat was also turned into a day boat to offer more space and comfort. Fitted curtains keep the spray out in bad weather. On the bridge you will find Furuno 16 mile radar. Si-Tech colored fish finder, Garmin chart plotter, 2 marine band radios, and an additional GPS.
  Howlin Sportfishing has equipped the vessel above the Coast Guard regulations with 2 six person inflatable life rafts, and a EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) in addition to your normal safety precautions. For the people who would like to get out of the blazing sun or pelting rain we offer an enclosed cabin with ac, TV, VCR, CD player, and even a Playstation for the kids.

Tackle
"Good Grief" is tournament rigged with all top of the line tackle and gear from its Lee outriggers to its Release fighting chair with rocket launcher. We are set up to catch fish from 1 to 1000+ pounds. Our arsenal consist of:

(2) 70 VS 2 speed Penn International Reels on 6 1/2' custom rods
(5) 50 TW Penn International Reels on 6' custom rods
